Working in the web application
Upload by drag and drop, organise in folders, preview documents and images in place, and download when you want a local copy. Everything you see is what your desktop sees when the drive is mounted.
Mount your files on the desktop
The drive speaks WebDAV and mounts natively in every desktop:
| Windows | File Explorer → Map network drive → https://{host}/dav/files/… |
| macOS | Finder → Go → Connect to Server → the same address |
| Linux | GNOME Files / KDE Dolphin → Connect to server; or davfs2 for a permanent mount |
| Server | https://{host}/dav/files/ |
| Username | your account's principal id (the Files web application shows your drive's address) |
| Password | an app password — see Accounts |
Your drive's exact WebDAV address is shown in the Files web application — it contains your account's id, and mounting it once makes the drive a folder on your computer that behaves like any other, online.
What to know
- Deletes go through the recycle bin of the web application, not the desktop's — emptying the bin is the real delete.
- Folders can be shared with other accounts, with the granular access described in Share and collaborate (a chapter still in preparation) — a shared folder appears in the recipient's drive.
- Version history is kept by the server; restoring an earlier version of a document is done from the web application.
