Designing a form
A form has a title, a description and its questions in order. Each question has a stable identity, a title, optional help text, and whether an answer is required. The kinds:
- Short text — one line, at most 1,000 characters.
- Long text — several lines, at most 10,000 characters.
- Single choice — one of the listed options; optionally "Other" with text.
- Multiple choice — any of the listed options; optionally "Other".
- Dropdown — one of the listed options.
- Rating — one to five stars.
- Number — a number, optionally within a minimum and maximum.
- Date — a calendar date.
- Email — an address, checked as one.
A form has at most 200 questions, each at most 100 options. File uploads are not a kind.
Open and closed. A closed form answers its link with a page saying so and takes no responses. A form can close itself at a date, or after a number of responses.
Changing a published form. Questions can be added, reworded, reordered and removed at any time. A response keeps the answers it was given against the question ids it answered: a reworded question's earlier answers stay its answers, a removed question's answers are kept and still exported, and a new question has no answer in earlier responses.
Who may answer
- Anyone with the link — no sign-in. There is no captcha: nothing third-party is ever loaded into the page; rate limiting bounds abuse.
- Signed-in people of the organisation.
- Named people — specific outside people, who answer signed in as guests.
A form that admits signed-in or named people can additionally record who answered (their name and address kept with the response), and take one response per person. A form open to anyone with the link records no one — the link proves nothing about who is answering.
Responses and export
Responses are read in the suite and exported as ODS or XLSX, downloaded or saved into your Files by your own browser with your own session.
